What Your Endocrine System Needs To Protect Your Health

Posted by berlinstreethealthcare on August 9, 2019 at 3:15 PM Comments comments (0)

Scientists are calling these chemicals “endocrine disruptors.”

First, though, I want you to know these dangerous substances are in more places than just plastic water bottles.

They’re also found in countless household items like:

Clothes, carpets, cosmetics, furniture, store receipts, and many of the foods you eat — just to name a few.

But wait, how exactly do these “endocrine disruptors” sabotage your health and wreck your waistline?

Well, the way I explain it to my patients is simple...

Your body controls pretty much every process inside you using chemical signals called hormones.

These hormones regulate your metabolism, appetite, energy levels, mood, sleep cycles, and more...

And your body manages these hormones with a special “hormone computer.” (It’s called your endocrine system.)

Now, here’s where things go haywire...

Endocrine disruptors have the ability “hack into” your system by DISGUISING themselves as hormones.

When this happens, you stop receiving messages from your REAL hormones...

And start getting messages from these hormone imposters instead!

Once the imposters gain access, WATCH OUT! They quickly start...

Making you hungrier

Slowing your metabolism

Zapping your energy

Attacking your joints

Clouding your thinking

Now the question is, if endocrine disruptors are so bad... why are they being allowed into all of your household products?

Well, this was the exact subject of an INFURIATING report I just read. (It’s also why I’m going to reveal a solution I’ve devised in a moment.)

The report was released on July 1st by The National Coalition Against the Misuse of Pesticides — a D.C.-based consumer safety organization.

It detailed how, despite growing evidence about the dangers of endocrine disruptors to the American public…

The government has knowingly turned a BLIND EYE to these dangers since at least 2009.

And during my research, I discovered a total of 4 proven compounds that can help neutralize these sneaky hormone imposters.

One in particular goes by the name KSM-66.

KSM-66 is almost impossible to get your hands on these days. It’s the most potent form of an ancient Indian plant extract called ashwagandha.

This plant has been around for centuries. It has an amazing ability to protect the endocrine system. So it can soothe irritated joints, reduce stress, boost mood, and support overall health.

Studies have also linked KSM-66 to improved levels of focus and concentration… along with a slimmer body.1, 2

A Tasty Treat That Helps Your Health

Posted by berlinstreethealthcare on August 2, 2019 at 5:35 PM Comments comments (1)

But first — here’s the quick and easy recipe for my Pear and Sage Olive Oil Snack Cake:

Ingredients (serves 8-12):

FOR THE CAKE:

⅔ cup extra virgin olive oil, divided

2 green pears, peeled and diced

2 Tbsp sage, minced

1 ½ cups blanched almond flour

Zest of 1 orange

1 ½ cups xylitol

2 tsp baking powder

Juice of 3 lemons

4 eggs, beaten (or approved vegan egg substitute equivalent)

½ cup water Instructions:

FOR THE SYRUP:

½ cup water

Juice of 2 lemons

4 tablespoons xylitol

1 Grease an 8 inch cake tin with olive oil (ideally a springform pan).

Heat half the olive oil over medium heat, and add pears and sage. Saute until pears are tender and sage is fragrant, then remove from heat and let cool.

In a food processor fitted with an “S” blade, pulse the almond flour and orange zest until well combined.

Transfer to a mixing bowl and stir through the xylitol, baking powder, and lemon zest. Add the lemon juice, olive oil, and eggs, and mix until combined.

When cool, add the pear, olive oil, sage mixture to the batter, and fold in until well-combined.

Pour batter into prepared cake pan, then put into a cold oven. Turn oven to 350 degrees, and bake for approximately 25-30 minutes, or until a skewer inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean.

Leave in the tin for 5-10 minutes to cool.

While cake is cooling, make the syrup. Gently heat all of the ingredients until the xylitol has dissolved.

Bring to a gentle boil for 5 minutes, allowing the rosemary to infuse.

Pierce holes in the cake and pour the syrup over while still warm.

So… what makes this snack cake so good for you?

Well, aside from being loaded with vitamin C, vitamin K, and fiber (which helps feed your good gut bugs)...

Pears, sage, and orange zest have REALLY high levels of antioxidants… which help destroy the free radicals that cause aging and illness.

But what really gives this recipe the “Gundry Stamp of Approval”? It all comes down to its star ingredient: Olive oil!

Olive oil helps to improve brain function, promote weight loss, strengthen the immune system and so much more.

Now here's where epigenetics comes in … certain foods, such as broccoli and other cruciferous vegetables, garlic, and onions contain substances that act as histone inhibitors, which essentially block the histone, allowing your tumor suppressor genes to activate and fight cancer. By regularly consuming these foods, you are naturally supporting your body's ability to fight tumors.

How Celery Juice Helps Heal SIBO

Posted by berlinstreethealthcare on June 4, 2019 at 5:15 PM Comments comments (0)

According to Medical Medium -Anthony Williams

Bacteria can thrive not only in the intestinal tract but also in the stomach for years or even decades when hydrochloric acid levels are low enough; they can even create ulcers in the stomach and scar tissue at the bottom of the esophagus.

Celery Juice annihilates the strep bacteria that causes SIBO. Celery juice contains undiscovered sodium cluster salts that expose and destroy strep, so that over time, SIBO symptoms can improve and heal. Celery juice also helps detoxify and strengthen the liver, which is essential for someone with SIBO, because SIBO goes all the way back to an unsupported liver. It also helps strengthen and increase hydrochloric acid and bile production. Undigested, rotting fats and proteins that have gone rancid in the small intestine make a delicious food for strep and other pathogens, but stronger bile and hydrochloric acid can begin to break these down, so strep has less to thrive on.

Unlike other diets I’ve tried, I didn’t feel great at first & then progressively worse as time goes on. Eating low-fat, whole food, plant-based, & drinking celery juice every morning, I initially felt worse and then started to feel better and better over time. Every few months I wake up & realize another symptom that used to plague me daily is gone, or hasn’t appeared in weeks, often without me even realizing it slipped away. I never could say that for any other diet/lifestyle I tried.

I also heard testimony from Tom who did a month of celery juice and is feeling really good. Now he didn’t get tested for SIBO but his testimony was so exciting that I had to start eating stalks and stalks of celery daily. I will report back on how it is going.

Sick this Winter?

Think about supporting your immune system with Epimune from Standard Process

What components in Epimune Complex are important for immune system support?

Epimune Complex contains several ingredients thought to be important for immune system support, including EpiCor®, several mushroom ingredients (maitake and turkey tail powders and MaitakeGold 404®), calcium lactate, zinc rice chelate, and acerola.

EpiCor is an ingredient produced from dried fermented baker’s yeast (Saccharomyces cerevisiae) that contains beta glucans from the yeast cell walls and metabolites from yeast. Beta glucans are known immunomodulators.

Several mushroom species and components from mushrooms, such as the polysaccharide and glucan components, have demonstrated in vitro and in vivo immune-modulatory function.

Calcium is involved in cell signaling, and zinc is essential in the functioning of over 100 different enzymes in the body and in cell communication.

Lastly, acerola is a rich source of vitamin C, which serves several roles in the body important to immune system function through antioxidant activity.

Sugar Melts Your Brain

I read this on The Grain Brain doctors site and thought it was worth reprinting

…..a large number of studies that have confirmed the thesis that elevated blood sugar is profoundly detrimental, not just for the brain in general, but for brain function as well.

As the authors of a new paper entitled, Brain atrophy in aging: Estimating effects of blood glucose levels vs. other type 2 diabetes effects point out, our brains shrink as we age with as much as 5% volume loss occurring between age 60 and 70. And as you would expect, this correlates with declining function.

A lot of the research has shown that type 2 diabetes (T2D) is what accelerates brain aging. But as this new study shows, it’s not the diagnosis of T2D that is the issue. Well before that diagnosis is made, brain structure is affected by blood sugar. Blood glucose levels even in the normal range can have a significant impact on total brain and grey matter atrophy.

So again, the mission here is to keep blood sugar low. Useful lab tests include the blood sugar with the goal of keeping it in the upper 80s to low 90s, the average blood sugar or “A1c”, which ideally should be in the range of around 5.2, and the “fasting insulin level” with a target of 8 or lower.

These goals are best achieved by a diet that’s exquisitely low in sugar and welcomes healthful fat back to the table. Keep in mind that artificial sweeteners, paradoxically, are also known to elevate blood sugar, so no more aspartame!

Daily Strategy of Heavy Metal Detox

Posted by berlinstreethealthcare on December 13, 2018 at 10:25 AM Comments comments (5)

In modern society we are constantly exsposed to heavy metals such as cadmium, lead, and mercury. These metals have no essential biochemical roles in our body and can cause harm if they build up in the tissues. There is good news though and that is that there are foods that bind these heavy metals and remove them from our bodies.Foods that are high in sulfur can help detoxify or block absorption of heavy metals.

Foods that are good sources of sulfur are garlic, onions, cruciferous vegeatables, including broccoli.
